Mourning Doves In My Backyard

Happy September, Y'all!

Over the course of the summer months, my backyard feeders have been frequently visited by about a dozen different beautiful Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura) who didn't seem to mind sharing the bird seed with other birds.

Normally these large feathered beauties would hog the feeders and drive off the smaller sparrows, chickadees, and even fight the regular cardinals that frequent my feeders. This particular group of Mourning Doves though seem to be far more chill though. In many of the photos I took you can see them happily sharing their meal with their smaller fellow travelers.

Mourning Doves are year-round frequent visitors to my backyard.

These photos featuring these wonderful doves were all taken from the middle of June to the middle of August of this year.

Once again I hope that y'all enjoyed the photos I captured of these wonderful creatures. More backyard bird photography will be coming soon.
