Tonight the Waxing Crescent Moon could be seen in the west following the setting sun with Venus close behind. The planet and the thumbnail moon could be seen together in the west....well, except for the cloud cover here.
The good news is I did manage to get a picture of both the crescent moon and Venus in the evening sky. The bad news is I could not get both in the same photo unfortunately. The two were separated by several degrees in the night sky and the clouds coming in from the west obscured them both at times with only one being visible at any given time.
Still, there will be at least a couple more opportunities to see Luna and Venus together in the western sky this week. Tomorrow the two of them will be quite close together in the sky. I am hopeful that I will be able to get a great photo of the two - fall weather and cloud cover permitting, of course.
