The Harvest Moon is the September Full Moon closest to the autumn equinox. In 2016 the equinox - when Luna is 180 degrees from the sun in ecliptic (or celestial) longitude - takes place on September 22nd.
I managed to get a pretty good shot of the Harvest Moon rising over the treetops, and another great shot through the tree in my front yard. Unfortunately neither gives a good scale on just how much bigger the September full moon seems.
Still I hope y'all enjoy the photos.

Awesome! I didn't get a chance to see the moon the other night! Thank you for the pictures :)
You are very welcome my dear sis.
There will be another super full moon in October 14th and 15th. With any luck I will get a shot of it over the State Fairgrounds that night, provided the weather holds out.
