Night Sky Photography -- 05-23-2024 -- The Full Flower Moon & Antares

Good evening fellow stargazers!

Last night at the stroke of midnight on Thursday, May 23rd I was able to capture a couple of beautiful shots of the May full moon -- better known here in North America as the Full Flower Moon -- and the bright red giant star, Antares, through the branches of the now fully bloomed tree in my front yard.

Luna will actually still appear full the next evening and occult (pass in front of) Antares overnight between 11:30 p.m. to about 3:00 a.m. EST.

The Full Flower Moon is the last full moon of spring in the North America. The next full moon (the Full Strawberry Moon) will take place on Friday, June 21st, the day after the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.
