Night Sky Photography -- 07-20-2015 -- Luna, Venus & Jupiter - And An Important Anniversary For Human Exploration

Photograph I took this evening of the planet's Venus and Jupiter with the Waxing Crescent Moon in the western night sky. Tonight also marks the 46th anniversary of the day that a manned human landing craft first landed on the lunar surface on July 20, 1969.

Happy Anniversary Apollo 11 and to US Astronauts Neil Armstrong (RIP), Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins ... as well as a big thanks to the thousands of staff personnel at NASA, the rocket engineers and others who helped design and build the Apollo rockets, Command Module Columbia, and the Eagle Landing Craft. The dream of sending human explorers to the moon shared by stargazers for thousands of years of human history was finally realized on that summer day in July of 1969 was a major joint effort by Americans and a great day for human exploration.

Just one small step into what will someday be the next great frontier for humanity.
