Tonight had optimal conditions for planetary photography, as well as two really amazing astronomical events featuring Luna and three planets.
The first photo was a great shot I took of the bright waxing gibbous moon and the planet Saturn just below it in the southern sky.
The latter two are really good shots of Venus and Jupiter taken just after sunset in the western sky.
As you can see both planets are getting closer to their meeting on Tuesday, June 30th, when both with be separated by only one-half of a degree in a beautiful planetary conjunction. If my run of optimal weather conditions continues, I should be able to capture the progression of these two wanderers between now and then.
